Walking more than 7,000 steps a day may significantly reduce mortality

As the saying goes, "If you walk a hundred steps after a meal, you will live to be ninety-nine." I wonder if you have the habit of going out for a walk in the evening after a busy day. Don’t underestimate this simple little habit, its health benefits are beyond your imagination.

In September 2021, a research team from the University of Massachusetts Amherst published a research result, saying that as long as we take more than 7,000 steps a day, we can reduce the risk of all-cause death.

This is not a conclusion that people draw casually. This research team tracked 2,100 middle-aged people for 14 years and found that compared with those who took less than 7,000 steps, those who took more than 7,000 steps a day The risk of all-cause death is significantly reduced, by 50 to 70 percent.

But it doesn’t mean the more you walk, the more effective it is. After exceeding 7,000 steps, no matter how much you walk, it will not further reduce the risk of death.

In fact, more than one study has reached this conclusion. In 2019, Harvard Medical School in the United States conducted a survey among older women. Researchers collected the daily step counts of 17,000 American older women with an average age of 72. The results found that when their daily step count was less than 7,500 steps The more you walked, the lower your all-cause mortality. After more than 7,500 steps, this relationship disappeared.

This shows that as long as we take more than 7,000 steps a day, it is very good for the body. In fact, this is not difficult. As long as you get up and walk more often during your daily life or work, and take a walk after dinner, it can be easily achieved.
