There is a best time to exercise to lose weight!

A survey of more than 5,000 people in the United States showed that 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. is the best time to exercise and lose weight. People who exercised in the morning had lower body mass index (BMI) and smaller waist circumferences than those who exercised at noon and evening. This research report was recently published in the Journal of Obesity.

Scientists believe that morning exercise is the best time to exercise because people are more likely to stick to it and are less likely to be distracted by phone calls, emails or meetings. Dr. Rebecca Krukowski, a clinical psychologist at the University of Virginia, said this is an exciting new study that is consistent with most recommendations for achieving exercise goals. In other words, it is most effective for people to focus on exercising during the time when they are least likely to be interrupted, before dealing with emails, phone calls, or meetings each day. Of course, this conclusion is not absolute and may also be affected by other factors. But there is no doubt that planning exercise time is beneficial to weight loss, and can also promote sleep quality and maintain stable mood.

In this study, researchers divided exercisers into three groups based on tracker data: morning group (7:00-9:00), noon group (11:00-13:00) and evening group (17:00-20:00). And collect the body mass index and waist circumference data of each group of exercisers to find out which group of people is easiest to lose weight. Among the participants, 642 exercised in the morning, 2,400 exercised at noon, and 2,187 exercised in the evening. The results showed that the morning exercise group had the lowest body mass index, with an average of 25.9kg/m2, slightly higher than the average healthy range of 18.5-24.9kg/m2; while the midday and evening exercise groups had an average body mass index of 27.6kg respectively. /m2 and 27.2kg/m2, belonging to overweight people. At the same time, the waist circumference of the morning exercise group was also the smallest, with an average of 91.5 cm.
