How to store blood glucose meters and test strips?
Share
Regarding the storage of instruments and test strips, the main aspects are temperature and humidity. For details, you can look at the side of the packaging box of our blood glucose meter and test strips. It is mentioned that this is a basic requirement. Examples are as follows:
Test strip storage temperature: 1℃-30℃, cannot be frozen
Storage humidity: less than 85%
Do not let direct sunlight shine on the test strip for a long time
Blood glucose meter storage temperature: 1℃-40℃
Storage humidity: ≤80%
Next, let’s take a closer look at the storage methods of several friends. Is it appropriate? 1. "The temperature is so high in summer, I put the test strips and insulin in the refrigerator together!"
It is very common to put the test strips in the refrigerator, but sugar lovers, please note, please do not put the test strips in the refrigerator! The humidity inside the refrigerator is very high and it is particularly susceptible to moisture, which will affect the test! Generally placed in a cool and dry place, such as drawers and cabinets.
2. "I used to have a small medicine box. For convenience, I took out the test strips separately and put them in the small medicine box."
Whether the test paper is in a barrel or individually packed, there is a special desiccant inside to prevent the test paper from getting damp. Therefore, friends, please ensure that the test strips are placed in the original bucket and do not move them to other places, including old buckets.
3. "I put the test strip on the balcony, where it is ventilated and the sun shines, so it is not so humid."
However, be sure to store it in a cool, dry place and do not let the sun shine directly on the test strip for a long time.
There are other details to note:
① Barrel test strips must be capped immediately after opening and used within 3 months after opening.
②Please do not place it in humid places such as kitchens and bathrooms.
③If your home is particularly humid, you can take some measures to dehumidify it. Such as: air conditioning dehumidification, intermittent room ventilation in the afternoon, etc.
